Adam Cote is a Sanford, Maine native and a graduate of Colby College and the University of Maine School of Law. He joined Global Relief Technologies in December 2008 and serves as their Senior Vice President.
Adam Cote’s responsibilities include managing, overseeing and building upon Global Relief Technologies’ local, state and federal emergency management initiatives. He works closely with the American Red Cross, the National Guard, and numerous emergency management related organizations throughout the country.
Adam Cote visited Haiti after the January 12 earthquake and used satellite-linked handheld computers to gather information on amputees in Haiti for Healing Hands for Haiti and Handicap International.
According to Michael Gray, the founder of Global Relief Technologies in a WCSH Channel 6 interview conducted on February 22, 2010:
"We see a lot of children in Haiti that have been severely injured, they have lost arms and legs in these collapsed buildings. Speed is the importance in providing not just medical assistance ultimately getting the prosthetic fitted for this individual," said Gray.
“Once GRT employees find an amputee, they input the location, the age of the patient, the type of injury, measurements and other key medical information. The virtual assessments are helping build a database of amputee victims. The information is shared in 'real time' with prosthetic companies in the us and around the world. The companies are volunteering their services to make the artificial limbs and ship them to Haiti.”
